The primary function of the Uniform Patrol Division is patrolling the city, enforcement of penal statutes and ordinances, maintaining public order, traffic law enforcement, and offering assistance, information; and providing public services as needed.
Lieutenant Aaron Corkins is the Area Commander for the City, west of Pacific Coast Highway (West Command.) Lieutenant Corkins has been with the El Segundo Police Department for over 20 years. Past assignments include Field Training Officer, Motor Officer, South Bay Platoon, South Bay DUI Task Force, Peer Support, Investigations Sergeant, Coordinator of the Community Police Academy, Personnel Sergeant, Professional Standards Sergeant and Training Sergeant. He is currently in command of the SWAT team, Terrorism Liaison Program, Peer Support Program, and the South Bay Platoon. Lieutenant Corkins loves to hunt, fish, travel, and spend time with his three children. He has been heavily involved as a volunteer in Little League baseball, high school wrestling and currently serves as the director of benefits for the South Bay Police and Fire Memorial Foundation. Lieutenant Corkins is also a member of El Segundo Rotary and the El Segundo Moose Lodge.
Lieutenant Hugo Perez is the Area Commander for the City east of Sepulveda Boulevard (East Command.) Lieutenant Perez has been with the El Segundo Police Department for more than 15 years; and he has worked with police agencies in Southern California since in 1995 . Past assignments with ESPD include Field Training Officer, Detective, and Patrol Sergeant. Lieutenant Perez oversees ESPD’s Drone Team and Range Staff, and is the department’s Jail Manager and Field Training Program Coordinator. He holds an MBA degree from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the USC Marshall School of Business. Lieutenant Perez is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
